About the Course
Fancy Micropavé II
Set fancy-shaped stones in micropavé, master Snowflake setting, and hand-engrave decorative bright-cut patterns — the next step after Fancy Micropavé I.
This course combines fancy-shape stone setting with hand engraving — a mix not found in earlier courses. You'll lay out fancy-shaped stones (marquise, pear, princess, oval, and trillion) in halo micropavé designs, learn Snowflake setting (combining different-size round stones in a single design), and use a pneumatic handpiece with a polished graver to bright-cut decorative geometric patterns directly into the metal. You'll also design and fabricate custom tools suited to these specific setting styles.

Prerequisite: Preparation Class, Micropavé I & II, and Fancy Micropavé I and hand engraving I

Day-by-Day
Day 1 — Custom tool fabrication: design and make tools tailored to the setting styles taught this week.
Day 2 — Snowflake setting and seat preparation: combine different-size round stones in one design; prepare seats fitted to each fancy shape's contours.
Day 3 — Fancy stone layout: spacing, alignment, and pattern creation for marquise, pear, princess, oval, and trillion shapes in micropavé settings.
Day 4 — Bright-cut engraving: pneumatic handpiece technique and polished-graver bright-cutting in decorative geometric patterns.
Day 5 — Class project: combine fancy-shape setting, Snowflake micropavé, and bright-cut engraving into one finished design.
What This Class Doesn't Cover Standard micropavé setting styles (Micropavé I & II) and the Fish Tail, Kasteel, two-sided, and star setting styles (Fancy Micropavé I) and Hand engraving I — all assumed as prerequisite knowledge.
What You'll Leave With A finished piece combining fancy-shaped stones, Snowflake micropavé, and hand-engraved bright-cut geometric patterns — practice plates and rings from earlier in the week, plus a final project piece.
